Rainbow Spectrum Sessions
One of the most joyful ways to energize an origami club is to dedicate each meeting to a single bold color—or better yet, a gradient of hues. A “Spectrum Series” invites members to fold models exclusively in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet across consecutive weeks. For a single explosive event, host a “Rainbow Ramen” evening where everyone brings paper in every shade imaginable, and the final display becomes a cascading arc of cranes, butterflies, and lotus flowers. To elevate the visual impact, provide gradient paper packs or encourage members to dye their own sheets using food coloring or watercolor washes. The result is a gallery wall that practically hums with chromatic energy, and the collective act of sorting, trading, and folding by color builds a natural camaraderie.

Another evening could celebrate Mexican folk art with fiery magentas, turquoise, and sun-yellow, folding whimsical skulls, birds, or stars. For a Nordic twist, use icy blues, silvers, and crisp whites to create geometric modular balls or arctic foxes. Provide a small handout with each region’s color symbolism (
